The national psychosis
By Mohamed Garad In Somali politics, truth isn't the end, not the goal. It has very few demands. Minds are preoccupied long before facts arrive. Not even a prophet armed with divine revelation would pierce the armor of allegiance. One is already his clan. Doesn't care about facts that much. Not at all. For in this realm, truth is not measured by reason nor by scripture. It is measured by clan. The clan precedes truth, defines truth, and abolishes truth. In the heart of the Somali, the clan is the metaphysical absolute: the first principle, the final cause, and the unquestionable truth. Mass insanity. Mass insanity. National destruction. This is the national psychosis that keeps beloved Somali Republic hostage. Citizenry is erased. Clans occupy the core of the republic. The individual is a mere instrument.
